What is a pixel file such as JPG, PNG, or PSD?

A pixel file, such as JPG, PNG, or PSD, is made up of tiny colored dots called pixels. The higher the resolution, the more pixels there are, and the sharper the image appears. However, as soon as you enlarge a pixel image, it quickly becomes blurry or blocky. Pixel files are therefore mainly suitable for photos, online use, and applications where the image does not need to be displayed much larger than the original.

If you are using a pixel file for designing a flag or banner, we recommend a resolution of at least 150 dpi (dots per inch).
